Subject: The Bee in my Bonnet
Hi Danny and Sue.
I’ve had a ‘bee in my bonnet’ for 4 years or so and I’m going to let the ‘bee’ out.
I’ve admired Jason from a distance through your speaking of/about him and I’ve wished our girls could get to know him and he, them. The older they become, fewer single, wholesome men are out there to relate to.
As you know, Sarahjoy is going through a hard time right now.... My question is: Would Jason consider corresponding with her? I think it would cheer her up. She’s not looking for a man in her life, but she is always interested in healthy male friendships.
I haven’t mentioned Jason to Sj but both of our girls have given Jim and me unreserved permission to facilitate male friendships.
If Jason would consider corresponding with Sj, however long or briefly, I would expect that he communicate upfront that her mom suggested the action.
I haven’t communicated with Jason directly because I don’t know his address, of course. But even more than that, I don’t know him very well and I like using you 2 as a filter. If this request is inappropriate, disregard it.
Also, at this point, if my notion is rejected, it seems best to just leave SJ out of the loop.
Wow! I said it as best I could. This email is awfully upfront. Please forgive.
And Jim and Charis are in full agreement with me sending this.
Love you,
Peggyrose & Jim & Charis

...I appreciate your letter immensely. Jason is always interested in your family's updates whenever we share any news. We will certainly discuss your ideas with him tomorrow and ask him to pray about it. I am sure his first response will be "what could I possibly say to be helpful to someone with such diverse experiences." He has mentioned her "Haiti" experience on several occasions - how much he admired her being able and willing to pursue such an adventure.
From my perspective, he has a lot of insight, more than he gives himself credit. He ... has many occasions to be "up front & honest" to men at work who harass him for not being married/or having a girlfriend. He accepts the fact he will probably remain single and is not looking for "mrs. right!!"
It's a shame that he is perceived as "odd" because he leads a pretty simple, orderly life. He enjoys reading and loves good conversation.
I am thankful you even thought in this direction. Who knows, this could be a good friendship between two people who are quite different!
Let's put it out there in prayer and we'll talk to him tomorrow....
love to all....
